There is a large troop of Silver Leaf Monkeys (also known as the 'silvery langur'), a 'near-threatened' species, on Bukit Melawati, a hill in Kuala Selangor, about 90 minutes south of Kuala Lumpur. This sub-subspecies (selangorensis) lives only on the Malay Peninsula, so far as I can determine. The babies are born orange and are raised by everyone, more or less. They darken as they age. The other monkeys here are the more common macaques. Of the two, the Silver Leaf are by far the most friendly, gentle creatures. This is an extremely friendly troop and is hand-fed by tourists and park visitors daily.
